Found a weird VHS tape in my uncle’s attic, weird stuff happening at night

Hey, anyone who reads this. Throwaway account for reasons that’ll become obvious. I just need to get this off my chest and maybe some advice? I’m genuinely freaked out and not sleeping much.

So here’s what happened:

About a week ago, I was helping clean out my late uncle’s house (passed last month, long illness). I volunteered to clear the attic — I’ve always been into old junk. He was kind of a recluse, no computer, lived alone since the ’80s.

Anyway, I found a dusty VHS tape hidden behind a loose wall panel. Completely unlabeled. I don’t know why I bothered, but I took it home. I even had to borrow a VCR.

The tape is weird. Mostly static for like an hour and a half. Then, black-and-white footage — shaky, handheld. It’s a shot of a house. My childhood house. Same fence. Same mailbox. No audio. Filmed from across the street like someone’s watching.

The tape looks early ’80s. Way before I was born. Since watching it, strange things are happening. TV flickers to static even when unplugged. Last night I woke up and my front door was... unlocked.

I’m recording tonight. I’ll update tomorrow.

That’s classic “found footage” horror material. Maybe your uncle was into weird art projects or surveillance stuff. Still — static TV and door unlocking? Creepy. Be careful.

Update 1:

Recorded the living room last night. TV and door in frame. At 3:13 AM (of course), TV turns on by itself — full static. Three minutes later, the doorknob turns. It opens slowly. No one enters. Then it slowly shuts.

I didn’t hear a thing.

I showed it to a friend. He left. Refuses to come back.

Also — porch light blew out around the same time. It shattered.

The tape isn’t cursed. The Camera is.
It wasn’t just watching your house. It was watching you. It’s following you. It was never about the house. It’s about who watched the tape.

This sounds insane, but I've heard rumors like this. Something called the Watcher’s Loop — surveillance tapes from the ’80s that bind to whoever watches them. They don’t haunt… they connect. Something inside sees you.

Don’t destroy the tape. That’s what it wants. Don’t record it again. Don’t spread it. Seal it. Hide it.

Update 2 (Final?):

I didn’t listen. I recorded it again.

This time, something walked past the camera.

Tall. Thin. Entirely black, like a silhouette cut from the frame. TV screamed in static. Phone glitched and powered down instantly.

I’m hearing knocking inside the walls now. I’m sleeping in my car tonight. When I came back for clothes — the tape was on the kitchen table.

I didn’t leave it there.

Please stop posting. I think it follows attention. I didn’t believe this at first but… last night, my old CRT TV turned on. Just static. I haven’t plugged it in in years.
